I don't have personal recollections for the first three (perhaps Ola does...), but when Malcolm X died it was a fucking HUGE deal. Even at 15, I knew someone important was sacrificed for something important, and that white people (at least in the south) were out of control.
I remember in the movie "X" that Denzel Washington was really mad upset when that happened.
