Your 4am Wake-Up Call

Right now, I'm huddled in front of the computer, eating bits of bread dredged in as much olive oil as possible. I'd rather be asleep, of course. At 4am, when my body woke me ("Hungry Now. Up. Food.") I gave it a nice, simple, reasonable yogurt, brushed my teeth, and went back to bed. In vain. ("That Not Food. Blah. Hungry Now.") Thoughts of onion rings, hot and crisp from the fryer and almost dripping with fat haunt me. Our fridge and pantry are stocked with mainly healthy things to eat: cereal and yogurt and fruit and peanut butter and Luna bars. Mostly, this is enough for the belly. ("Onion Rings. Onion Rings. Onion Rings Now.") Until a 4am craving for oily food, that is. And do you know what? Bread in olive oil? Is not onion rings. ("Hate You.") Oh, shut up, body.

I {wasted} spent about an hour trying to find someplace that delivers onion rings to Hyde Park late at night. Alas. I suck as a potential grandmother if I can't even do this!

There are satisfactory frozen onion rings. Not terrific, but they will do in a pinch.
