In Sweden a gnome called "Juletomten" brings gifts in a sleigh driven by goats.

In the Ukraine, Father Frost visits all the children in a sleigh pulled by only three reindeer.

The Dutch "Sinterklass" arrives by boat on December 6th. Children put their shoes next to the fireplace and leave either a carrot or some hay in them for Saint Nicholas' horse, or a drawing for Sinterklaas.

There is more to this story. The Goats started driving after the Reindeer complained that Juletomten was falling asleep from the schnapps he picked up along the way.
